Pastor Schillack - Senior Pastor

John Karen Schillack

My life began in Philadelphia and I was raised in Bensalem where I currently reside with my wife Karen who is a teacher at Bensalem High School. We have two daughters and a son. Cindy is an RN at Jeanes Hospital. Becky is a special education teacher at Bensalem High School. Kevin is employed as an accountant at a private equity company.

At Calvary Memorial Church, I became a child of God through their bus ministry and Sunday School when I was eleven years old. I responded to God’s call to trust Christ as Savior.

My faith wavered through my teenage and college years in my relationship with God, but God was always with me. Waiting for me to return to Him. That moment came in the late 1970s during Campus Crusade’s    "I FOUND IT" Crusade in Philadelphia.

God led me to marry my high school sweetheart Karen upon graduation from college. God moved us to a church where we needed to be grounded in our faith. That church was Calvary Memorial. We grew spiritually and we were baptized. We responded to God’s call to commit our lives fully to Him and we began to exercise our spiritual grace-gifts at Calvary Memorial. We ministered to the youth and taught. Karen ran the nursery and I served as Treasurer.

God’s next step for us was formal theological training, which I received from Dallas Theological Seminary’s extension program in Langhorne, Pa. Six years later I had a masters degree. We felt God’s call to full-time ministry and upon completion of my master’s degree, I was required to submit to questioning before an ordination council and was ordained.  At that time, God led us to pastor a church in Berlin, NJ.

The full circle has now been completed.  God has led us back to Calvary Memorial Church where our spiritual journey began. By God’s grace, we will shepherd God’s flock. We will love, we will care for, and we will protect that flock.
